The Angel of the Gods was originally painted by Greg Hildebrandt in 1981 and licensed to a Dutch company as part of a poster series. This image would eventually be licensed to Heavy Metal Magazine for their February 1982 cover. That issue went on to be the best-selling issue for the brand and remains a fan favorite. 2022 marks the 40th anniversary of the original cover, which appeared on the February 2022 issue of the magazine. Both Greg and Heavy Metal are to proud to present this iconic image as an specially animated NFT as part of the Heavy Metal Cover Collection.
